JOIN OUR Buddy PROGRAMME

Did you recently move to Aarhus? Could you use some good advice during your first time living in the "City of Smiles"?

Join one of our cosy events to get matched with a Welcome Buddy who can give you tips about life in the country of hygge.

We regularly host events, where you can find a buddy.

How does it work?

At our events, you can meet people from all over the world. If you find yourself having a good conversation with someone who's new to the country, consider becoming their Welcome Buddy – a friend who provides practical advice and shares tips about life in Denmark.

Next step is to exchange contact information and plan your first meet up! We recommend you to meet up at least three times.

Why you should sign up:

  • get advice from someone who knows Aarhus
  • get introduced to new activities, places and social networks
  • discover different aspects of life and culture

I didn’t just get a soft landing in Denmark thanks to my Welcome Buddy, I also got a new friend. - Shiru, newcomer from Singapore

Can you become a  Welcome Buddy?

Absolutely! Both internationals and Danes can be Welcome Buddies. It's a fantastic opportunity to make a difference in someone's life,  expand your network and learn about other cultures. Are you ready to help a newcomer settle in Denmark?

As a Welcome Buddy you:

  •  give advice and support
  •  share experiences about everyday life
  •  introduce to new activities, places and social networks

At first, I thought it was something I was doing for someone else, but then I figured out it was just as much for me. - Anders, Welcome Buddy from Denmark

NB:  This programme isn't a job mentorship but mostly about socialising and adjusting to life in Denmark.

If you are a student, please check programmes at StudenterhusAarhus, ESN, or your university department.
